The biogeographical conditions of Costa Rica present certain characteristics such as broken terrains and constant changes in forest conditions and climate that allow hikes to become not only a physical challenge but also a way to learn more about the tropical forest.

  • Welcome to Costa Rica!

    Day 1

    Hola Costa Rica: After a warm welcome by our staff, we are headed to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, near Bahía Ballena.

    Transportation, San Jose- Bahia Ballena: Famous for having a beach shaped like a whale's tail. There, we can rest in a hostel in the middle of the mountain.

  • Pleasant rest

    Day 2

    One day on paradise: In this area of beautiful beaches, we will have a full day to relax at the beach, go on a walk, visit the whale’s tail shaped beach or do any other activity that we can find. If we are in the right season, we can go whale watching.

  • Start by the Roots

    Day 3

    Transportation, Bahia Ballena- Palmar Sur: We are going to start the day early in the morning with a big breakfast, and then we will go to the Palmar Sur.

    Spheres Museum: Where we will visit a small archeological site and a museum. There, we will learn about the first settlers and the incredible legacy they left us.

    Sierpe River boat tour: Then we will go more than 34 km into the largest wetland in Central America, the Sierpe River, in search of flora and fauna.

    Waterfall Walk: We will have the opportunity to make a 6 km walk with a local family and know the secrets of the forest, including a beautiful waterfall, to end the day dining and sleeping in the house as one of the Sandoval family.

  • Native Communities

    Day 4

    Gold´s Walk: Having waking up as one of the inhabitants, we are going to have a typical breakfast, of those that keep you full the entire day. Then, we start walking, after 6 km we go from Estero Guerra to Rancho Quemado to meet some families that had been working in artisanal gold mining in Osa Peninsula.

    Guaymi Indigenous Village: In the morning we will travel by vehicle to the Guaymi community of Alto Laguna; indigenous people from the area who will teach us their traditions and ways of perceiving the world.

  • Into the Deep of the Community

    Day 5

    Kayak in Dulce Gulf: We will leave very early morning to catch the sunrise and take a 3-hour kayak trip close to the beach to watch the mangroves until we reach Sándalo beach.

    Horseback riding: After a lunch on the riverside, we will go on horseback about 2.5 hours to the community of La Tarde, to rest in rustic cabins owned by families of the community.

  • Personal Challenge

    Day 6

    Osa Peninsula Walk: This day we will have the most demanding walk of our trip. We will go from Dos Brazos of Rio Tigre until Carate beach. We will go through rivers, mountains and steep areas that will be equally challenging and beautiful.

  • Relax!

    Day 7

    We all deserve it: Spend the day enjoying, resting and recovering from the beautiful but strenuous hike. There is some Yoga lessons available to stretch and relax. All this right next to Corcovado National Park.

  • Slow style!

    Day 8 & 9

    Transportation, Carate- San Gerardo: Early in the morning, after a good breakfast, we will go to the highest part of the Talamanca Mountain and we will spend the rest of the day resting among the clouds.

    Life in the clouds: San Gerardo area is perfect to rest. There is short walks, waterfalls, horse ridings, coffee and plantation tours and more in case you want to see around.

  • Mission Accomplished

    Day 10

    Transportation, San Gerardo- San Jose: Fully rested from the adventure, we can go to the Central Valley to finish our trip in the hotel or the airport.

    Day 1

    Wecome to Pura Vida: As usual, we gladly welcome you to Costa Rica in the Slow style.

    Transportation, San Jose- San Gerardo: Once you are ready, we will take you to the South by the Inter-American road until we reach the highest part of the Talamanca mountain range: San Gerardo de Dota in the area known as Zona de los Santos referring to the saints names that each town has.

  • Water in the sky

    Day 2

    Stretching legs: The best way to stretch your legs and get ready for adventure is to take a walk. We can go through a trail in the middle of the forest looking for some of the local animals, explore the river and waterfall and more. If we go in the right season, there is a chance to spot the glow of the Quetzal bird.

  • Water under your feet

    Day 3

    Sierpe River boat tour: The door to the Golfo Dulce is the Sierpe community, an amazing wetland that we will explore for around 20 km searching for its great treasures.

    Waterfall Hike: We will arrive to Estero Guerra to meet one of the first native families, they would take us to a 3 km walk to see a great waterfall of the community.

  • Pure rurality

    Day 4

    Horseback Riding: After enjoying a great typical breakfast, we will need a great dose of the rural Costa Rica and the best way to do it is by riding a horse, as our farmers do. We will go through beautiful landscapes of the Progreso and Drake community until lunch time.

    Tamandua Biological Reserve: After a difficult but beautiful access we will reach Tamandua, protected land surrounded by rivers and natural pools that we can enjoy.

  • Water everywhere

    Day 5

    Isla del Caño Biological Reserve: To be in the Drake community demands a must-go visit to La Isla del Caño (Caño Island), where anything could happen. During the boat trip, if we are lucky, we could watch dolphins and majestic whales. To close with a flourish, we will go snorkeling to the second-best spot in the country where you could discover amazing reefs and fish.

    Beach walk: After our adventure we will visit San Josecito beach in Corcovado National Park to explore around.

  • Corcovado National Park

    Day 6

    Pure Jungle: We must not miss the opportunity to visit the best national park of the world, according to National Geographic. We will go by boat to the Sector Sirena and enjoy a tour through its deep surroundings. Keep your eyes wide open so you can enjoy the natural surprises in Corcovado: tapirs and pumas are the main attraction, but there are a lot more options.

  • Searching for the dolphins

    Day 7 & 8

    Transportation, Drake- Ballena Bay: We will leave Drake to move to Marino Ballena National Park and rest by the sea.

    Enjoy: There, we can see a whale’s tail that is formed by the sand in one of the beaches and the great forest that surrounds it. Also we can go and try to find dolphin and if it is the right season, we can go back to the water to search for whales.

  • La Cusinga Lodge

    Day 9

    Transportation, Ballena Bay- San Jose: After a wonderful adventure, our convenient transportation will take you back to the Central Valley to take your flight back home.

  • Welcome to Costa Rica

    Day 1

    Just outside of the airport, our staff will be waiting for you to take you to a nearby hotel where you can recover from the flight and get ready for the adventure!.

  • Deed in the jungle!

    Day 2,3 & 4

    We will move to the deepest jungle in Costa Rica looking for their treasures: Tortuguero National Park, a place stopped in time where the only transportation is boat.

  • To the Volcano!

    Day 5,6 & 7

    From the jungle we will move to famous tropical rain forest, right next to Arenal Volcano to experience adventure and nature:

    Sloth Tour.

    Campesino experience (local family farm experience).

    Arenal Volcano Tour.

    Hot Springs and more.

  • To the clouds

    Day 8,9 & 10

    After the rain forest, up to the world famous Cloud Forest:

    Canopy tour.

    Cloud Forest Reserve.

    Hanging Bridges.

  • Stick to the plan… Relax

    Day 11,12,13 & 14

    Let´s go to enjoy one of the exotic tropical beaches in Costa Rica.

    As we started, our staff will take you to the Airport after the most beautiful days in paradise.
