Itinerary

  1. Pickup (Start)

    Pickup from your hotel in the La Fortuna area. The exact time will be coordinated according to your hotel's location, usually between 7:30 and 8:30 am.

  2. Transfer to the Sarapiquí River (1-1.5 hours)

    Scenic transfer by vehicle to the starting point on the Sarapiquí River. The transfer duration is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the exact starting point.

  3. Safety Briefing and Equipment (15-20 min)

    Arrival at the river starting point. Professional bilingual (English/Spanish) guides will provide a complete safety briefing and explain paddling techniques. Necessary equipment is provided: life jacket, helmet, and paddle.

  4. Descent on the Sarapiquí River (2 hours / 9 miles or 13 km)

    Exciting descent down the Sarapiquí River, facing Class III and IV rapids. You will navigate approximately 9 miles (13 km) through the rainforest. There will be calm moments between the rapids to observe the flora and fauna. A stop will be made mid-tour for a snack.

  5. Snack (15-20 min)

    Stop midway through the tour to enjoy fresh tropical fruits and drinks.

  6. Lunch (30-45 min)

    Typical Costa Rican lunch at the end of the descent at a local farm or a restaurant near the river.

  7. Return to La Fortuna (30-45 min)

    Transfer back to your hotel in La Fortuna.
