Itinerary

Pickup (Start)
We will start with pickup at your hotel in the La Fortuna area at the beginning of the tour.
Transfer (10-15 min)
Then, we will make a transfer to the local farm, which will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes from downtown La Fortuna, depending on the location of the farm.
Coffee Plantation Tour (45-60 min)
You will enjoy a guided tour of the coffee plantation, where the stages of the coffee process will be explained: cultivation, harvesting, drying, roasting, and grinding. You will have the opportunity to observe the coffee plants and learn about local agricultural techniques.
Chocolate Demonstration and Making (45-60 min)
Next, there will be a demonstration of the chocolate making process, from the cacao pod to the final product. The history of cacao and its cultural importance will be shared, and you will have the possibility to participate in the making, such as grinding cacao, among other activities.
Tasting (15-20 min)
Finally, you will enjoy a tasting of different types of coffee and chocolate, including freshly made coffee and artisanal chocolate.
Return (10-15 min)
Finally, we will make the transfer back to your hotel.

Normally, the class includes the preparation of a typical main dish like casado (that rice, beans, ripe plantain, and meat/fish that we love so much), handmade tortillas, a traditional dessert, and fresh natural drinks. The menu might change a bit depending on the season and availability of fresh ingredients, so it's always as authentic as possible!

Is the class suitable for people with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Absolutely! Please inform us in advance of any dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) when booking. We'll do everything in our power to adapt the menu or find alternative options so everyone can fully enjoy the experience. The idea is that no one misses out!

Is special cooking equipment used that's hard to replicate at home?

The class focuses on techniques and tools that are easy to use and find. Sometimes we use a fogón (wood-burning stove) for a super authentic experience, but the methods we teach you are totally replicable with standard kitchen equipment at home. And don't worry, you'll receive the recipes so you can recreate them without a problem!

How much time is dedicated to preparation and how much to tasting?

Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours are dedicated to active dish preparation, always under the guidance of our experts. Afterward, you'll enjoy about 45 to 60 minutes to savor and share the delicious food you've created yourself. That's definitely the best part!

Absolutely! The cooking class is a fantastic and very educational activity for children. Participation is interactive and adapted to different ages, making it a fun and memorable experience for the whole family.
